Apretar (e-ie)  To  squeeze
Apuntar  To record
Botar  / Tirar  / Desechar  To trow something away
Chequear(se)  / Medir  To check / To measure
Colocar  / Poner / Insertar  To put / To place / To insert
Limpiar  / Lavarse las manos  To clean / To wash your hands
Picar  / Pinchar  To bite / To sting / To prick

Some Usted Commands

Note: To form the “Usted” commands, you to the “Yo” form to the present tense, drop the O and add opposite ending.

Apretar – Apriete   1. Use the verb in its uncongujated form. It isn’t perfect but it makes sense. Ex: Apretar el dedo. Car verbs change to que in their endings in the command form
Poner – Ponga   2.Use a helper verb like “necesita” (you need to). Ex: Usted necesita apretar el dedo 
Picar – Pique

Inserte la tira en el glucómetro  Insert the strip into the glucometer
Pique su dedo y apriete  Prick your finger and squeeze
Ponga la tira en la gota de sangre  Put the strip on the drop of blood
Espere los resultados  Wait for results
Póngase una curita  Put a band-aid
Apunte los resultados en el registro  Record the results
Bote la tira en el basurero  Throw the strip in the trash can
Bote la lanceta en el recipiente para objetos punzantes  Throw the lancet into the sharps container
