    Hello!
I am not sure if I should sign up for the beginner or intermediate class. Do you have a good suggestion on how to decide which one would be best? Thank you!

  4. Hi.
I have very little knowledge in Spanish.
What is your hours for the class?

  5. Question: I know very little Spanish. Is this course still applicable to my skill level?

Hi Erica, yes this is Beginner level course starting from the fundamentals of Spanish. I’m the teacher who usually gives this course and I can tell you, many students have very little Spanish just like you when they start. The important thing is to get started and take the leap into the Spanish language. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

  6. Good morning,

Is this course based in Latin American or South Spanish or European Spanish? In the US, the dialects spoken are more SA or LA and European isn’t as beneficial. I’m PA student, it’s becoming more and more apparent that in order to be a better caregiver learning Spanish is very necessary. I want it to be locationally relevant in dialect, though.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Hi Erin! Thanks for your question. I’m one of the teachers at CGI. We focus on Latin American Spanish which is as you stated more widely spoken in the US. Most of our students are just like you working in the health care system in the US, which is why we focus on the Latin American dialect. Let us know if you need any more information about the course!

      1. Hi, Alexandra!

Oh, how excellent! That is just what I wanted to know. Once I’m done with my Clinical Rotation year, this is next on my list.

Are there online sessions for immersion/practice time?

Thank you for your time and assistance.

        Cheers

Hi Erin! Yes, every MMS course has 10 live sessions via Zoom in groups based on level (1 per week in the AM or PM for each level) as well as asynchronous learning which involves video lessons, flashcards, homework, notes, interactive forums, & other bonus items included in the course. We also encourage students in the live sessions to find a conversation partner to continue practicing throughout the week. You really become part of a community with CGI!

I think I confused the time zones tonight. I logged in for class at 7pm in AZ and I kept getting message “waiting for host to start meeting”
I thought AZ was mountain time, but must have been mistaken and class was already over at 7pm AZ time?
I’ll look for replay on line. thanks

  8. Can Nurse Practitioners get CME from this course?

    1. Hello Heide – yes absolutely! We offer Prescribed CME credit through the AAFP for all MMS Courses. These are equivalent to Category 1 AMA credits.

hi- I’m a bit overwhelmed at preparing for each class. the classes are listed as LM1, LM2,etc..while the lessons above are not necessarily following the weekly live class?
Do I need to complete all the lessons above PRIOR to the weekly class?
I’m trying to prepare and organize my study preparation to optimal, so any suggestions would be helpful.
    sincerely,
    john

I am interested in this course. I am a nurse and I have a constantly changing schedule – what if I miss the live interactions because I am at work? Thanks

    1. Hey Robin, we’d love to have you join us in this course! Two things if you can’t make it to the live sessions: 1. we always record them and post them for you to review later. 2. You also have conversation practice partner to work through the topics with. We help you match. Ideally you two would meet at least 1x/week at a time that works great for both of you to practice together.
