Recommendation Meaning
5: Porciones de frutas y verduras 5 Portions of Fruits and Vegetables
2: Menos de 2 horas con la pantalla por día Less than 2 hours of screen time a day
1: Una hora al día de juegos activos / actividad física One hour of active play
0: Bebidas azucaradas – beba más agua Sugary drinks – Drink more water!

 

5 Porciones de frutas y verduras

Recommendation Meaning
Las vitaminas y minerales ayudan a los niños a:
– Crecer fuertes 
– Fortalecer el sistema inmune 
– Mantener un peso saludable 
Vitamins and minerals help children to:
– Grow strong
– Strengthen their immune system
– Maintain a healthy weight
100% jugo no es un sustituto  para las frutas y verduras frescas 100% juice is not a substitute for fresh fruits and vegetables
Verduras y frutas enlatadas:
– Altas en azúcar 
– Altas en sodio 
Canned Fruits and Vegetables:
– High in Sugar
– High in Sodium
Fresca vs. Cruda:
– Fresca : No enlatadas ni congeladas 
– Cruda : No cocinada 
Fresh Vs. Raw:
– Fresh: Not canned nor frozen
– Raw: Not cooked
Ensalada vs. Ensalada verde:
– Ensalada : Cualquier tipo de ensalada
– Ensalada verde : Con verduras crudas
Salad vs. Green Salad:
– Salad: Any type of salad
– Green Salad: Fresh vegetable salad.
Vocabulario:
– Agregar 
– Rallar : Ralladas 
– Picar : Picadas

Vocabulary:

– Shred: Shredded
– Chop: Chopped
– Snack

Note: Be careful with the verbs “rayar” y “rallar” because their meanings are totally different:

  • Rayar: To underline / To draw lines or stripes
  • Rallar: To grind something by rubbing it against the shredder.

  • Soft drink (soda pop): gaseosa , refresco, fresco, soda, cola o mencionando directamente la marca.
  • Aguas o naturales: jugos naturales, zumos naturales , bebidas naturales.
  • Tag (the game): La ere, la lleva, el pillapilla , jugar a pillar, jugar a corretearse .
  • Jugar deportes: hacer deportes, practicar deportes.
